You visit the two Crown Jewels of Kenyan National parks, the Masai Mara NR and Amboseli NP, along with Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita. The experience of watching the Big 5 (lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and rhino) from very close quarters in these parks will excite you and invigorate your tired soul. In addition to this, Mara, as it is popularly addressed, offers you an array of animals Zebra, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Impala, Ostrich and scores of birds. During the Great Migration (July-October), you would be stunned by the vigor, urgency and nervous migration of thousands of animals crossing River Mara, filled with ever hungry crocodile. Amboseli offers all these with the majestic Mt Kilimanjaro in the background. The elephants here have the biggest of tusks and are seen in dozens. Lake Nakuru offers the rare experience of watching the rare white rhinoceros, flamingos and arboreal lions from close quarters.


DAY 1

Arrive in Nairobi and Drive to Masai Mara

Meet and greet on arrival in Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Airport and after a short safari introduction and briefing you will join the other group members to start the safari. The tour departs at 8am from Nairobi through the scenic Great Rift Valley where you can stop shortly for scenery admiration at the escarpment. Proceed to Masai Mara arriving for check in and hot lunch at the camp. After lunch you will proceed for an afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara for an opportunity to view animals, take photos and enjoy an educational session about animal behavior and so much more. As the sun sets you are transferred back to the camp for dinner and rest.

DAY 2

Explore Masai Mara

Early breakfast then spend the day with morning and afternoon game drives exploring the extensive Mara Reserve looking for animals and taking photographs. The driver will drive you at a leisurely pace as you often stop to watch animals, take pictures and enjoy bird watching. You will carry packed picnic lunch boxes so as to maximize your time in the park enjoying game drives. You will visit Mara River where you can also see the large Nile crocodiles and the large pods of hippo at the hippo pool and if you are lucky, you may also witness an adrenaline filled cheetah or lion hunt close to the river or in the extensive plains. In the evening, you will be transferred back to the camp for dinner and rest.

DAY 3

Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast you will check out of the camp and drive to Lake Nakuru via Mau Narok. You will have lunch on the way then immediately enter the park for an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru which is a sanctuary for the endangered white rhinos. In this park you can also see many birds, herbivores and predators. Drive to the observation hill where you will have a scenic aerial view of the park from the cliff. Lake Nakuru is also famous for the rare tree-climbing lions which laze above the yellow bark acacia trees after a successful hunt. After the game drive you are transferred to your hotel for dinner and rest.

DAY 4

Drive to Lake Elementaita

Early breakfast then check out of the hotel for a transfer to Lake Elementaita which is about 1hr drive. Upon arrival you will explore the lake by foot for a chance to learn about this important bird area with populations of Greater and Lesser Flamingo, Great White Pelican, African Spoonbill, Pied Avocet as well as other water bird species that occur in smaller populations. Lake Elementaita supports one of the major breeding colonies of the Great White Pelicans in the world and is the only place in Kenya where Pelicans breed. Up to 8,000 pairs of Great White Pelican have bred there when the water levels are high and the rocky outcrops in the eastern sector are flooded to form islets on which the birds can safely nest. The park has permanent hot water springs that act as the breeding area for tilapia, which are preyed on by the pelicans. You will have lunch at the lodge then spend the rest of the evening at leisure watching the sunset.

DAY 5

Drive to Amboseli National Park

Early breakfast then check out of the hotel and drive to Amboseli National Park passing through Nairobi city. You will have two stops on the way; one in Nairobi for lunch and the other one in Emali before proceeding to Amboseli. You will reach Amboseli in the early evening and directly enter the park for an evening game drive. On a clear evening you can see Mt Kilimanjaro peaks and the elephants as they come back from grazing. The game drive ends after sunset when you are transferred to the camp for check in and rest.

DAY 6

Explore Amboseli National Park then Return to Nairobi

After breakfast, depart from the camp and proceed for morning game drive in Amboseli. Enjoy the breath-taking views and take photos of Mt. Kilimanjaro which is perfectly seen during the morning on a clear cloudless morning. The driver will drive you at a leisurely pace as you stop often to enable you watch animals, take pictures and enjoy bird watching. Visit the observation hill which gives you a bird’s eye view of the whole park including the swampy areas where you can see elephants cooling off from the day’s heat. After the game drives you will start the journey back to Nairobi with a lunch break at Sultan Hamud town. After lunch you will proceed to Nairobi arriving by evening for transfer to Jomo Kenyatta Airport to connect with your international flight out of the country.

NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK

It is located approximately 7 kms south of center of Nairobi. It is a large game reserve known for breeding endangered black rhinos and home to several bird species and giraffe, zebra and lions. It is possibly the only zoo in the world located so close to a metropolis separated just by an electric fence.


GIRAFFE CENTER

It is located in Langata, approximately 20 kms from center of Nairobi. It is dedicated to the protection of the endangered giraffe population. One can observe giraffes from very close quarters and even feed or caress these timid but beautiful creatures.


KAREN BLIXEN MUSEUM

It is located 10 km from Nairobi at the foot of the Ngong Hills. This is the former African home of Danish author Karen Blixen, famous for her book `Out of Africa’ which chronicles life of the estate about 100 years back. The establishment has been maintained in its heritage form and is one of the places most visited by the tourists.


BOMAS OF KENYA

It is a tourist village in Langata 10krn from Nairobi. Bomas displays traditional villages belonging to different Kenyan tribes and has one of the largest auditoria in Africa. One gets to have a glimpse of rural Kenya and the life pursued by the different tribes.


DAVID SHELDRICK ELEPHANT & RHINO ORPHANAGE

It is a trust that rescues and rehabilitates orphaned elephants. One has the rare opportunity of viewing young elephants of varied age having mud baths or feeding eagerly from feeding-bottles.


MAASAI MARKET

It is at Slip Rd, Nairobi,is open every weekdays from morning till evening It’s a great place to shop ethnic clothes, shawls, handicrafts, figurines etc. at very reasonable prices.
